PROMESA BOYLE HEIGHTS VOLUNTEER: DESCRIPTION
Promesa Boyle Heights is a community effort made up of families, residents, educators, and local organizations working to create authentic and sustainable changes in our community and to support all children in achieving a pathway to higher education and 21st century careers.
We are looking for a dynamic volunteer to support our Promesa Boyle Heights implementation efforts and the success of the General Body, Steering Committee and Work Groups.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Providing ongoing support, including planning, outreach and logistics, for the General Assembly, Steering Committee, and other key meetings;
- Working with Project Director to ensure cohesiveness, coordination, and fluid communication between partner agencies, school administrators, and community residents;
- Assisting with research and material development for weekly newsletter, website and other communications;
- Contributing to other organizational activities as necessary.
The ideal candidate is an undergraduate student (junior or senior) who can commit 10-20 hours per week. We are looking for a self-starter who is detail-orientated and creative. Solid grammatical and Microsoft Office skills are required. Event planning experience is also helpful but not mandatory. The internship is unpaid but school credit can be arranged. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse staff, community residents, and agency partners is a must. Bilingual Spanish-speaking preferred; Boyle Heights lived or work experience a plus.
